Chalcosoma chiron chiron is a beetle species that is native to Java, Indonesia. They are characterized by their elytra’s metallic sheen and the presence of three elongated horns on their head. Despite their similarity to the Atlas beetle, Chalcosoma chiron is generally larger, with the potential to grow up to 130mm. They are considered the largest beetle species in Asia and are widely regarded as one of the strongest beetles in the world due to their ferocious nature.
Primarily feeds on rotten hardwood or flake soil.
Beetle larvae go through 3 different larval phases: L1, L2, and L3. After the L3 stage, the larva pupates to turn into an adult beetle!
